The Falcon 9 rocket, designated for this mission, marked the 97th launch of the Falcon 9 series this year and was the 100th mission SpaceX has completed in 2026. Approximately 61.5 minutes after liftoff, the rocket's upper stage was expected to deploy the satellites successfully. The first stage of the Falcon 9 booster, known as B1097, made a successful landing on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" in the Pacific Ocean about 8.5 minutes post-launch. The 45th Weather Squadron has forecasted an 80% chance of favorable conditions early in the launch window, which is expected to decline to 50% as the window progresses. Meteorological threats include cumulus clouds, anvil clouds, and surface electric fields, which could impact the launch. The National Weather Service has also warned of a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the area after 2 p.m. on August 20. Nonetheless, sunny skies and warm temperatures near 94 degrees are anticipated, making for an ideal day for a rocket launch.
SpaceX's recent launches from both Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Base on August 15 and 16, 2026, showcased the company's operational efficiency.
